Context-ize!

A tagging experiment © by Sascha Carlin 2006

How does it work?

  1. Check with del.icio.us wheter the URI was tagged and return all tags.
  2. Extract the top 5/3 tags
  3. Put the top 3 tags back into del.icio.us to learn about related URIs
  4. Check Technorati and pull the latest blog entries tagged with our top 5 tags
  5. Query Flickr and return pictures matchting the top 5 tags ordered by interestingness

Why are there no results from del.icio.us/Technorati/Flickr?

Either because there are no results or because the query sent to one of the services timed out and thus returned no results. Unfortunatelly there is little I can do about either of the reasons...

What other services do you plan to integrate?

Good question! Flickr offers an API-function to discover related tags, which would be cool to implement - somehow. Querying Amazon to get related products would be interesting, too. If you have any suggestions, go ahead and drop me a line.

Can I see the code? Can I?

Nope. Its ugly as hell and currently not available. If you are fluent in any programming language, check with del.icio.us, Technoratis and Flickrs API documentation and get going.
If not, my code won't help you anyways ;)

How come there are 19 results from del.icio.us results, 10 from Technorati and 8 from Flickr?!

Simple. I wanted the three colums to be of the same height, so I experiemented (Remember? This is an experiment) and came up with this like scientific scheme.
